Since the Pennsylvania Railroad opened its route through the Allegheny Mountains, the line has remained one of North America’s mountain crossings. Ownership of the line has changed several time: PRR to PC to Conrail and now Norfolk Southern. NS pushes a lot of tonnage over this line, that and the scenic beauty, plus the famous locations, Horseshoe Curve in particular, keeps railfans coming back!
br>This footage was captured in 2016 and 2019, hitting all the great “spots” like Tyrone, the Brickyard, Horseshoe Curve, Benny, Lilly, Portage and South Fork. We’ll see a good variety of trains and motive power – including heritage units. Narration is informative but designed not to dominate the sound the trains.

There are 3 reasons for purchasing this video. #1: It completes Broken Knuckle if you have all their other productions. #2: We get to see the region in recent days, unlike other productions from years ago, & #3: the price to length of time ratio…. at 3.5 hrs, the cost per minute of video is cheap. There is lots of great action of long heavy trains pounding the Alleghenies. So basically, if you make the trip to the Horseshoe Region, what you will see is what you will see on this video. The scenery is as good as the trains themselves to see. Well done. a great purchase.
