You’ll feel a real tug at the heart strings as Frank Pfuhler brings interurban America back to life exactly as it used to be in this unique feature. This film is another masterpiece filmed by Frank Pfuhler with authentic sound by Russ Jackson. The journey begins on the Chicago Loop and takes you the entire way to Milwaukee on the world’s best known interurban. Streamlined articulated “Electroliners,” “Silverliners,” freights and plenty of standard, heavyweight “Greenliners” are all seen here. Even includes the Mundelein Branch.

Every significant point on the line is covered both from the motorman’s seat and at trackside: all the principal cities and towns plus mile after mile of 90 MPH from the cab. The three distinctive whistles are heard. Includes footage of the Milwaukee trolleys, and the famous “Electroliners” are shown after the demise of the North Shore when they ran as “Liberty Liners” on the Red Arrow Line between Norristown and Philadelphia.

Narration. Sunday River Productions programs may feature Color film, B&W film, Music, Dubbed Sound and still photos.

Originally released in 1988, this program covers the vintage films of Mr. Frank Pfuhler Jr in Northern Illinois & Southern Wisconsin.

Locations include Roosevelt Road, State Street Station on the Chicago Loop, Chicago Ave, Sedgwick, Fullerton (Not California), Bryn Mawr, the Crossovers of Howard Street Junction, Skokie, the intersection of Mulford Street & Kostner Ave, the intersection of Niles Center Ave & Lee St, Harmswoods, Winnetka Road, Northfield, Northbrook, Woodridge, Briergate, Highmoor, Sheridan Elms, Deer Path, Lake Bluff, the Mundelein Branch with Libertyville, Butterfield Road, Perpetual Adoration, Mundelein depot with the connection to the Soo Line for electric freight trains only, North Chicago Junction, Waukegan, Edison Court, Beach crossing, Zion, Kenosha WI, Racine, Ryan Tower, Street running through 5th street & making an S curve into 6th street, while crossing Harrison Ave & later Mitchell St, before arriving at the final destination of Downtown Milwaukee. Plus, there is County Stadium for the Trolley & other unknown spots.

Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, the Electro-Liner cars were moved to the Northeast on the Red Arrow after operating in the Midwest at spots like Rosemont, Conshohocken Road, Hughes Park, & others.

On one scene, Car 716 highballs past the Kellogg’s Cereal Billboard.

Aside from the Interurban Cars as well as electric freight locomotives, historic Trolleys in the Milwaukee Area, & the articulated Electro-liners, there is also a lot of cab rides. Today, some of these cars seen in this program are preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum at Union.
