Kansas City is a major railroad hub and most of the major roads of the past ran into the city. The same is true today, except the names have changed due to mergers. This program was filmed on Super 8 film with sound, by Jim Terrell and Ed Birch, Jr, in the early 1990s. They visited the “Gooseneck” or “Bottleneck”, where three lines run over or under each other at the Kansas River bridges. Santa Fe Junction, 12th St. yard, Rock Creek Junction, Sheffield Junction and more. Trains from Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Gateway Western, CNW, SOO Line, Burlington Northern and KC Terminal show up. Amtrak’s River Runner is also shown as are steam excursions with Santa Fe 3751 and UP’s 3985. All color, sound in camera and maps.
