By the 1850s, America’s railroads had settled on the 4-4-0 as the standard locomotive for their needs. These locomotives served the rapidly growing East and conquered the West in every kind of service and terrain and continued well into the twentieth century. Some were still running in the 1950s.
Bill Warrick takes you on a historical look at many of these great engines across North America with both preserved and hard working railroads in the United States and Canada from his personal collection of rare 16mm film.
