This film covers the length and breadth of the mighty empire of the Southern Pacific Railroad at the height of the glory days of steam. From the deserts of New Mexico to the forests of Oregon, John Kirkland narrates his life’s work of film documenting every wheel arrangement of steam engine ever operated on SP tracks. Giant Cab Forwards and Articulateds dig in to move mountain drag freights. Northerns scream by pulling bright orange daylights. Special attention is brought to the San Francisco Bay area, and to the last scheduled steam freight on the SP, running out of Medford, Oregon. From monster articulateds to a restored diamond-stack. This is indeed a rare film feast of Southern Pacific steam!

Narration. NOTE: This title has been replaced by Southern Pacific Steam Anthology.

Sunday River Productions programs may feature Color film, B&W film, Music, Dubbed Sound and still photos.
