The Bangor & Aroostook proudly served northern Maine reaching south to Bangor and the deepwater port at Searsport. This program was filmed in 1994 and 1995, when the B&A was in financial trouble. Chester Kamuda captured switching at Northern Maine Junction (interchange with the former Maine Central), a chase of the Searsport job and work at Millinocket Yard and at the Great Northern paper plant in East Millinocket. We see a freight at Mapleton, coming off the Washburn cutoff from Presque Isle. At Presque Isle, the local switches a warehouse. An added treat is a day in the life of shortline Aroostook Valley in its final days. Finally, Chester filmed the Van Buren job as it interchanged with the Canadian National over the International Bridge.

This DVD shows 8mm scenes taken from various places on the BAR. Though in the last years of it’s existence, there are many scenes with the colorful GP38-2s pulling freight from Searport to northern Maine. Recommended.
