Former Reading Railroad 4-8-4 #2101 was rebuilt to operate in the eastern U.S. for the American Freedom train in 1975 and 1976. Then came the transition into a new paint scheme for the Chessie Steam Specials which operated in 1977 and 1978.
Reading Railroad class T-1 4-8-4 number 2101 made many trips for Chessie, with trips over Sand Patch and 17-mile grades, plus Huntington-Hinton on the New River Trains, as well as Cincinnati trips. In November 1978 the engine ran a one-way trip with the coaches from Columbus, Ohio to Russell, Kentucky then on to Stevens Yard, in Silver Grove, Kentucky(east of Cincinnati). This would be the last time 2101 would be in steam, as she suffered heavy damage in a roundhouse fire in March of 1979.

Well, considering this all happened in the days before digital cameras it’s a very nice video. I think the subject matter is pretty unique but i have to admit I grew weary of the continuous runbys without showing the entire train. Trains are more than just engines. Not my favorite video even though Reading T-1’s are one of my favorite engines.
