Travel through the south with never before seen footage from the early ’60s. Discover some of the last working steam operating in the United States. Rail photographer Mac Owen captured seven operations including the Reader Railroad when it was still a steam powered common carrier.

Owen discovered some unusual steam engines featured in this film: a wood-burning 2-6-2; a ?fireless cooker? at the North American Rayon Company; and an old Southern Pacific engine working for a gravel company. On the affectionately-named ?Tweetsie? railroad in Tennessee, the ex-Southern RR number #630 was hard at work moving freight.

So far, this is the only way to get the reader railroad 11 locomotive in its vintage film shots prior to the TTI trips. Remember, Only Greg Scholl had the most footage of the little 2-6-2 in operation before the CSX purchase.
