The New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, better known as “The Nickel Plate Road” was famous for its handsome, dependable steam locomotives. One such engine, Nickel Plate 2-8-2 #587 is still in service today, now owned by the City of Indianapolis and part of the Indiana Transportation Museum. In this exciting video, we see 587 on one of her premier assignments, hauling the annual “Fair train” to the Indiana State Fair.
