Steam in the Spring features a logging train with Heisler # 6 on the Cass Scenic Railroad, Soo Line 2-8-2 #1003 pulling freight in Wisconsin, Pere Marquette 2-8-4 #1225 pulling a passenger extra in Michigan, Ohio Central 4-8-4 #6325 pulling a passenger train, and Cumbres & Toltec 2-8-2 numbers 484 & 488 with action on the entire line between Antonito, Colorado & Chama New Mexico.

Interesting. This production is a country tour, from the eastern state of West Virginia to the mid west to the western mountains. The old shay engines are a work of art indeed. This video does a nice job showing them. While I am not a fan of excursion trains (steam or diesels), I enjoyed the video. Nice to see these old work horses preserved and still in some form of operation

In some ways, spring is even more gorgeous than autumn or winter! Les Jarrett manages to find some great things happening at this time of year with both mainline AND tourist locomotives… and manages to make it exciting throughout… Renewed hope and optimism are two great themes in this DVD.

What a neat video show casing what steam railroading is like in the spring time. There’s nothing quite like the freshness of spring emerging from winter and tie that in with steam railroading and it’s a great thing. Vivid colors abound with the green of spring in this video!
