It’s nothing short of amazing, In 2013 Big Boy 4014 was a static display in Pomona, California. In 2018 she was in pieces in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In late 2019 we see 4014 under her own power in California and along the former Southern Pacific Sunset Route! When the 1.2 million pound, 7,000 horsepower Big Boy climbs Cajon Pass, you know it! We catch her at Mormon Rocks and other location on Cajon Pass. We then follow her into Nex Mexico and Arizona, ending with her layover at El Paso, Texas.
This is truly some amazing footage, including drone footage and the song, “Titans of the Wasatch” (Ballad of the Big Boy) (including music video with 4014!)! Pentrex has truly outdone themselves with this coverage!

Pentrex capture Big Boy 4014 in Nevada, California and one location in New Mexico. Wish they would show more coverage on the southwest tour but they would later capture the last leg of the Big Boy in another show; Greetings from Kansas City. As a special bonus however, they added a 6 version song from the Altar Billies song; “Titans of the Wasatch” (Ballad of the Big Boy) I first heard it in Ogden 2019 and I’ve been in love with it since then. Bought these two videos on Fourth of July celebration and 4014 is celebrating it’s 80th birthday this year 2021.

A lot of the drone shots go on for some time, and though I like the Altar Billies song, I won’t lie: you hear it a LOT in this film. But despite that, the scenes of 4014 in the vast southwestern desert are priceless, and though it can still happen again in the future, this particular excursion will go down in history as one of Big Boy’s finest.

It’s great to see Big Boy 4014 operating throughout the southwest with an excursion over Cajon and running on the sunset route. Even the song Ballad of the Big Boy is fun to listen too. I think this would be perfect to go in your collection.

In this 90 minute program, there are scenes on the Caliente Subdivision, Cajon Pass, Beaumont Hill, & Through the Arizona desert into New Mexico. The Bonus Song is really interesting to hear as well as Flashback clips to the Big Boy Collection from 2001, & 4014 update from 2014. Plus there are some BNSF Freights, and pacing the beast.
