Soo Line 2719 is a H-23 Class 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive that was built by Alco in 1923 – and still runs today. The Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad (The Soo Line) used this steam locomotive in passenger train service until its retirement in 1959. 2719 has had more than one career since retirement. This action packed DVD features a brief look at two restorations, and then exciting operational highlights, including excursions with trackside run-bys, cab rides & pace scenes. 2719 still runs, although she now runs out of Duluth, Minnesota on the North Shore Scenic Railroad.

In this DVD, you’ll see highlights from her first running out of retirement: Restoration Work, Osceola Steamfest, Test & Break-In Runs, Steamin’ on the GB&W, Photographers Special, Ferry Moves, Double & Triple Headers, Cab ride & Pace Scenes, Steamorama II, St. Croix Highbridge Trip, Chippewa Valley Trips and Steamin’ on the WGN. Plets Express programs feature an insert that includes helpful information about the program and a map of the area seen.

Years before it last operated at the Lake Superior railroad museum in Duluth from 2006 to 2013, 2719 was used for special occasions. For example: a tripleheader with mikado 1003 & Northern pacific 4-6-0 number 328, that this trip was also covered in the pentrex title: Steam ‘98. Nowadays since 2719’s second of third retirement near the end of the Lake Superior railroad museum’s 2013 season, 1003 is the only SOO line steamer which still operates on special occasions only.
