Leon has captured breathtaking video images of probably one of the most widely photographed railroads in the world…The Sierra Railway. Engines number 3 (which celebrated 100 years of service in 1991) and 28 are the stars in this video story as they head a steam trip through the scenery of Hollywood’s most prominent railroad.
Beautiful music and excellent limited narration present an image rarely seen of railroading.

Follows a busy day with engines #3 and #28. The 28 leaves Jamestown first, facing backwards, with four coaches. The 3 follows behind from a distance. The 28 pauses at Chinese Camp to switch out some woodchip cars, then both engines meet at Keystone, about ten miles from Jamestown. They set up as a double-header to pull the train abck up the hill, but not before a thrilling photo runby. On the way back, we pass the “ruins” of Hill Valley, the still-standing set from Back to the Future III. All-in-all, fantastic shots on a fantastic railroad! Just far too short, in my opinon.

A visit to Jamestown California wouldn’t be complete without a day long trip to the state’s movie railroad from morning preparations to both onboard the train & trackside as this musical journey takes the viewer a nifty look at what railroading in the American west is all about.
