In 1990, Pentrex visited one of America’s finest HO Scale model railroads, the “Sierra Pacific Lines” of the Pasadena (California) Model Railroad Club. The superb quality viewers have come to depend on in our railroad shows can be found in our look at this beautifully crafted and realistically operated model railroad. The “Sierra Pacific Lines” is immense. The railroad occupies a 5000-square-foot room. Thirty thousand feet of code 100 steel rail has been laid on 500,000 crossties totaling over 10,000 feet of hand-laid track. Twenty-seven people are needed to operate the railroad including ten cab operators.
Get lost in the realistic world of model railroading as we follow a unit tank train over the railroad. Along the way there will be meets with many other trains, both freight and passenger, powered by steam or diesel, including a ribbon rail train. At Midway, helpers are added to our train for the two percent climb up Powderhorn. You’ll forget this is a model railroad as Pentrex brings you the latest in miniature photography techniques with beautifully photographed scenes from trackside, on the train and pacing alongside.

Fascinating trains, great scenery and interesting operations. It’s everything you’d want in a railfan outing … in miniature! And with trackside, on-board and pacing video and realistic sound, you’ll have to remind yourself that you’re watching a model railroad! The Sierra Pacific Lines is stunningly well done, and you’ll probably take some things away from the video that you can incorporate into your own layout. This one is inspiring, entertaining … and just plain fun!

Excellent video about a model railroad club in Pasadena with model trains up to 60 cars in length. The unit tank train with Rio Grande Tunnel motors makes a good picture I even like the Emerald Rocket passenger train with it’s pa diesels. This makes me feel impressed by all the people that operated the layout.

A model railroad video that looks so real. Here is a great video for the modellers who want to be some inspiration for their own layouts. It takes 27 people to operate it when everything is powered up, which includes 10 cab operators. I was in awwwww as I watched.

This video is great. I’ve always been intrigued with the Pasadena Model Railroad Club. Very large model railroad with prototypical operations. Lots of great footage and the prototypical sounds added realism to the model railroad.
