We visited this unique little railway in the Spring, when the rapeseed was in full bloom. The railway is the lifeline of the villages it serves, with little road access, virtually everything must travel by train. Chinese tourists from Chengdu flock to the area at weekends, and many tourist trains run, with all serviceable C2 0-8-0’s operating. Along with the regular passenger trains and coal trains this can make the railway very busy. We’ll also see the lower section of the line, with little electrics on coal trains, visit the workshops and take a ride on the train. This is a work-a-day little line in China – still working with steam as the primary power source!

I read the description of the video before purchasing . Little steamers and electrics, coal and passenger trains, and a ride on the train. Sounds good, I made the purchase. It is a great video. Love watching these little trains in the rolling country side, past the “big” fields of “rape” as the producer refers to them. And I laughed seeing it. Rape is known in North America as “canola”, and it is interesting to see the trains passing the fields. Speaking of agriculture…. note the oxen being led by it’s owner, and some many other things we never see in North America. It’s a great video. Period.
