The Santa Fe from the 1950s to the end of the road in the 1990s. Lots of passenger F-unit trains and freight with many paint colors. See the speedy “Super-C” freights that redefined the rail-freight industry – as it was run like a premium express passenger train. This is Tehachapi, Cajon Pass, the Los Angeles Area and the Bay Area at its best. The Needles Subdivision and Stockton Junction round out the action in this tribute to the Santa Fe’s various generations of the “Warbonnets”. See long gone paint schemes including a bicentennial unit. To quote Model Railroad News, “I can’t think of a better way to spend an hour and a half…”

This program, through the use of fantastic vintage footage, shows the end of the steam era, the Santa Fe’s famous passenger trains and their surrender to Amtrak, the “Super C” freight train, to the ill-fated merger with the SP, and the final years of the Santa Fe before its merger with the Burlington Northern. We see engines like 3751 and her preserved sister, 3759; Alco RS and PA types, F-Units, FP45 units designed for passenger trains but reassigned to freight, and the Superfleet engines that revived the classic Warbonnet scheme. We also see locations like Tehachapi Loop, San Francisco Bay, Los Angeles, Chicago, Cajon Pass, and Stockton. And there’s more to experience in Santa Fe Vintage West! It is an excellent addition to anyone’s collection.
