Here is the story of a truly momentous undertaking involving a truly historic steam locomotive. First the restoration, then in December 1991 Santa Fe #3751 returned to the ATSF mainline. Now 2 Discs in 1 case, saving you money.
Volume 1 tells the story of a truly momentous undertaking involving a truly historic steam locomotive. Built in 1927, locomotive 3751 was the first 4-8-4 for the Santa Fe and the first ever for Baldwin Locomotive Works. She was the first of Santa Fe’s passenger trains to arrive at the new LAUPT in 1939. After 10 years and thousands of hours of concerted effort, 3751 was returned to the rails in elegant splendor.
Volume 2 picks up the story after #3751 has returned to the Santa Fe mainline. She’s heading up a 4-day maiden excursion after years of restoration effort. Her journey is going to take her from Los Angeles to Bakersfield via Cajon and Tehachapi Passes and Pentrex is with her to capture the thrill of big steam on the rails!

I haven’t seen many shows as in-depth about the restoration of steam locomotives as this one, and it doesn’t hurt to be a huge fan of 3751 either! Highly recommend!

Definitely worth it to purchase this set if you not only want to see all the epic details of her restoration, but also witness her most epic excursion… Sure wish the cross-country trip to Chicago and return was included to make this a THREE DVD set, but that’s ok.

I was amazed to see the restoration of 3751 and the first excursion trip it did to Bakersfield over Cajon and the Tehachapi Pass with two FP45 behind the steamer.

Part 1 of the Revival was made by Video Rails, & the Inaugural in part 2 was made by pentrex which features clips from the best of 1986 in the opening portion of the program. Will there ever be a video rails version of the 3751 chase from LA to Bakersfield & back? Only time would tell.
