In Volume 1 of this 2 Part series that was originally released in 1999, there are plenty of trackside footages of these interesting cars, as well as a visit to the maintenance shop, Plus a Cab Ride, not to mention lots of Street Running.

Did you know that there were 71 U2s & 52 SD100s on the San Diego Trolley system?

Locations in part 1 include Mission San Diego, Jack Murphy Field, Rio Vista, Mission Valley Center, Hazard Center, Fashion Valley Shopping Center, River Valley Golf Course, Linda Vista, Old Town Transit Center, Washington Street, Limberg Field Airport, the historic Santa Fe Station, America Plaza Transfer depot, City College, Barrio Logan, Harborside, Pacific Fleet, 8th Street, 24th Street with the original Denny’s Diner & In ‘N’ Out Burger signs up ahead, Bayfront & E Street, crossing the Diamond at F Street, J Street, Palomar Street, Beyer Boulevard, San Ysidro near the Mexico Border in Tijuana, 25th & Commercial Street, 32nd & Commercial Streets, 47th Street, Euclid Ave, 62nd & Encanto Street, Lemon Grove, La Mesa Boulevard with Mojave Northern 0-6-0 tank engine number 3 on display, Weld Boulevard, Santee Town Center, Seaport Village with the Top Gun Logo at Kansas City Barbecue Restaurant, the Convention Center, 12th & Emperial Streets, & many more spots in one of Southern California’s largest cities.

Amtrak F59PHI number 455 is seen racing with the Trolley at signal 2652. The first coach behind the diesel & the other Amtrak Coaches was originally built for the Southern Pacific’s Overland Trail. Later at the same spot, Coaster 2101 (Reference to a Reading T1 4-8-4 in Baltimore Maryland) makes a meet with the Trolley. The diesel as well as its sister engines have since been retired.

Overall, Bob McMillan did a decent job narrating this program which most of these streetcars have since been retired.
