Sacramento Steam ’99 by Pentrex: Steam ruled the rails in Sacramento when the California State Railroad Museum hosted Railfair ’99 and the NRHS and R&LHS scheduled their national conventions in Sacramento to coincide with the event. Many of the major steam locomotives operating in the US plus dozens of other locomotives were in attendance to amaze and entertain an appreciative throng of over 175,000 visitors! Pentrex was on the spot capturing the events at Railfair ’99 and the exciting NRHS/R&LHS excursions, including:
* UP 3985 and 844 from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Sacramento
* SP Daylight from Portland to Railfair ’99
* Amtrak excursions to Franklin Canyon and Altamont Pass
* UP 844 excursion to Tehama
* SF 3751 from Los Angeles to Sacramento
* UP 4466 excursion on the Sacramento Southern Railroad
* Boiler failure on the 844
* UP Feather River Canyon excursion
* Yolo Shortline steam excursion
* SP 2467 and SP GP9 5623 from Oakland to Sacramento
* Shay races
* Opening and Closing ceremonies and much more! Here’s your best opportunity to experience the steam railroading event of the decade!

Steam to Railfair ’99: The biggest steam locomotives in the country traveled to Sacramento in June 1999 to attend the historic last Railfair of the 20th century. Pentrex captured Union Pacific 844 and 3985, and Southern Pacific 4449 as they made their way to Sacramento from their home terminals.

Pentrex camera crews filmed so much great footage, it wouldn’t all fit into our epic program Sacramento Steam ’99. So we assembled this video from all new sequences featuring the UP 844/3985 doubleheader from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Roseville, California and SP Daylight 4449’s journey from Portland, Oregon to Sacramento.

Locomotives with all natural sound and no narration. On-screen graphics indicate the location of each runby. Thrilling mainline steam action awaits you in Steam to Railfair ’99!

    I have both titles of the Sacramento Rail fair 1999 so it’s an awesome show to watch with many steam locomotives attending the event in old Sacramento. Be sure to buy this DVD set if you like steam in action and other railroad events that took place in 1999.
