Nothing is more exciting than seeing a steam-powered rotary snow plow at work! Come along for a visit to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad for a taste of what this fine machinery can do. We’ll follow the rotary OY with its train from Chama, New Mexico to Cumbres Pass on the former Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge line. This program was shot over two heavy winters.

  1. rickyfreni

On the First Weekend of May 1997, Engines 484, 487, & 488 shove Rotary Snowplow OY in its New Gray Paint to clear the line for the Railroad’s 1997 Season. Surprisingly Enough, Noteworthy America By Rail Producers Greg Scholl & Les Jarrett were also there as well for their Rocky Mountain Snowplow & First Train to Toltec Videos. Overall, Noteworthy NKP 765 Engineer Rich Melvin Did an Outstanding Job Narrating This Program.

  2. Chase

Nothing is more exhillerating than listening to a hard working steam powered rotary doing what it was originally designed to do and this program is a great example of that! Great footage of real steam mountain railroading in the preservation era showing equipment performing its intended use, a rare sight and something not seen anywhere else today.
