Here is rare footage of Rio Grande Southern Operations on this storied line in the Colorado Rockies. Mostly color film, we see steam operations including some freights, excursion runs, and several of the Galloping Geese in operation between 1947 and the end of operations on the RGS in 1951. A 1947 fantrip over Narrow Gauge country is shown as well as two days of the Rio Grande Southern portion of the fan trip. We see engine 20 west of Rico, where it is traded for engine 455 for the run to Ridgeway.

There are brief trackside views of engine 41, and a freight with 461 and 464, plus a couple of the Geese. Ride a charter by 4 railfans of Goose number 3 from Telluride to Lizard Head. This 1951 trip has a freight with 461 following about a mile or less behind them, making for some interesting action shots. Maps guide you along the way for each segment. This rare footage comes from several photographers and is a mix of silent black and white and color 8mm and 16mm film.

This 2014 program covers not only the entire line between Durango & riverside, but also features onboard footage from the galloping geese motorcars. Future famous surviving steam engines, 20, 41, & 464 are shown, not to mention a cab ride on the California Zephyr from Denver to the east portal of the moffat tunnel.
