Name trains, Derby specials and freights trains, this is the L&N in Louisville in the 1940s to 1970s. We see a lot of action in and around Louisville, including Union Station, South Louisville Shops and roundhouse. Trains include Kentucky Derby Specials, regular passenger trains and, of course, freights.
You’ll see NC&StL 4-8-4s and 2-8-2s, and the name trains “City of Memphis”, “South Wind”, “Pan American”, “The Azalean”, “Humming Bird”, “The Southland”, “Gulf Wind”, and more. You’ll visit the roundhouse at DeCoursey and follow the big 2-8-4 M-1 class Berkshires in both freight and on passenger specials. This video is a must for L&N fans.
