This is the way to see the abundance of railroading around Dallas and Fort Worth – one of the largest urban areas in the country. Locations include Tower 55, Tower 60, Saginaw, Dallas Union Station, the Trinity River Bridge and Irving. Railroads include UP, BNSF, TRE, DART, DFW&W, DGW and Amtrak. Modern railroading at its finest! Four railroads use gensets, and we see them all. Special features include the ability to turn the narration on and off.

Urban railroading at its best! The videography is solid, the locations are well chosen, and the setting … the Trinity River Bridge, in particular … has character. And with multiple railroads serving the Metroplex, there’s an impressive variety of locomotive types, color schemes and consists. If Dallas – Fort Worth wasn’t high on your railfanning bucket list, “Rails Around The Metroplex” will push it a little bit higher!

Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas is an area with little for railroad video fans. Here is a video that finally shows a fair amount of the 2 cities. There is lots of power, big and small, new and old, from various companies. Shown in various locations, the interest holds throughout the video. The content and quality of the video is good. It would have been nice if more screen graphics and narration was included for anyone to keep notes on when visiting the region. Not a top of the line for Highball, but better than other videos.

I already owned this dvd, I bought it to see some of the rail hotspots in and around the Dallas – Ft.Worth area, aka Metroplex, during a weekend getaway. Great for the West side of Dallas and the East/ North areas of FW, but missing are some great spots south of Dallas. Overall, very good with lots of action. Well worth it.

So many trains go thru Dallas & Ft. Worth area. You have cargo trains, Amtrak with regular passenger service, The TRE commuter train between Ft. Worth and Dallas all day. You can hear train horns most of the time everyday. Great Dvd. Lots of action.
