Pocahontas Glory, Steam on the Norfolk & Western, Volume 6

Big, BIG, power. 1950s steam and very rare 1930s film of electric power on the Norfolk & Western and the Virginian. This is freight power pulling freight trains and long coal trains through the eastern mountains. We’ll see Z class 2-6-6-2 steam locomotives followed by the even larger (and more famous) Y3 class 2-8-8-2 steam engines and the mighty Y6b class 2-6-6-4 steamers. Yes, we also see the Class A, simple articulated 2-6-6-4 design built in the N&W’s own Roanoke shops.

Amazingly we also are treated to rare film from the 1930s of the N&W’s LC-1 electric’s purchased to break the bottleneck at the Elkhorn Tunnel. We also see Virginian boxcab electrics from the same early time period. All from 16mm original film.
