The Panhandle now began its climb toward Pittsburgh through the foothills of the Alleghenies. Paul Geiger and Bob Sherwood cover the Panhandle during the 1970’s the way it was meant to be covered: from trackside, from the towers, from the locomotive cab, and from west to east and back again.
Named for a small railroad operating in Pennsylvania which was eventually controlled by the Pennsylvania Railroad, The Panhandle is the nickname for The P Company’s mainline from Pittsburgh to St. Louis and Chicago, via Columbus, Ohio.

I wish I could have seen PC and Conrail running on the Panhandle, but this video gives me the next best thing. Locations and train symbols let you know where and what the trains are. Video quality isn’t High Def, but it’s from the 70’s and I’m happy to see it. If you have any interest in this line, it’s well worth buying.
