This program showcases some of the trips made during 1218’s first six months of service with NS Steam Program, such as the engines ferry move from Birmingham to Roanoke, and the 1987 NRHS Convention, which includes side-by-side running and doubleheading with 4-8-4 611.

EXCELLENT 1987 NRHS Convention footage! One of the greatest railfan events of all time! This is the ULTIMATE 1218 film!

  3. Ricky

This now over 30 year old video rails program features the very first trips of the short lived giant in Ohio Kentucky and also in Virginia. Surprisingly, noteworthy railroad video producer Greg Scholl was also there and his footages were shown during the 1987 NRHS convention with 611 and also with 1218 on the Cincinnati to Danville line on Sunday September 13, 1987. While this program was made by video rails in 1987, Greg’s version of the 1987 NRHS convention was shown 3 years later in 1990 for his Norfolk Southern Steam part 1 Video.
