You’ll see the vintage locomotives from the B&O, Erie Lackawanna, Boston & Maine, Central of Vermont, New York Central, Nickel Plate, Norfolk & Western, Bessemer & Lake Erie, Jersey Central and Morristown & Erie. You’ll see early EMD Geeps, F units, E units and Alcos. Hop aboard for two cab rides, on the N&W and the Nickel Plate. 34 minutes.

Originally released on VHS only in 1999, this program covers lots of early diesels on various fallen flag road names: Nickel Plate Road, Erie, Norfolk & Western, Jersey Central, New York Central, Lackawanna, Lehigh Valley, Central Vermont, Baltimore & Ohio, Boston & Maine, Bessemer & Lake Erie, Morristown & Erie, Pennsylvania, & Wabash. There is even an appearance by Canadian Pacific 1278 as 127, which was featured in Twilight of Steam.
Locations include Conneaut Ohio with a deadline of NKP steamers going to be gone for scrap while some have since been preserved as well as a cab ride to Buffalo & back, Ashtabula OH, Pocono summit PA, Whippany NJ, Little Falls, Port Jervis NY, Great Notch NJ with a work train, South Plainfield NJ, Laconia NH, Elizabeth NJ, Frasier PA, White Haven PA, Bridgeport PA, Pan Haven Junction, Upper Montclair, Lehighton PA, Bear Mountain NY on the Hudson River line, & Lakeport NH.
The theme song in this video was also used in not only Steam Giants Across America from 1996, & also on Top Frog Volume 5, but also the Scenic Trains of BC Rail as part of the Western Canada Combo by Greg Scholl.
While Bob Carrera narrated this nearly quarter century old video, all of the films were captured by Mr. Bill McClellan.
