Revisit the early 1990s and the last years of the D&H and the ushering in of CP Rail to new territory in the United States. This was a very colorful era in the Northeast and dramatic changes were still in effect after the bankruptcy of the old Penn Central. We cover the history of the D&H and its sad demise. Don’t miss the parade of older and borrowed power that came from all over North America. This was also a time when CP Rail was consolidating its extensive US-based rail lines. We bring you power from the D&H, Soo Line and from CSX, NS, Conrail, leasing companies and others. This material was shot over an extensive period of time, in different seasons and numerous locals. This DVD is the perfect companion to the first Charles Smiley Presents “Northeast Rails” that covered Conrail’s success in the late 1980s.

This was the first Charles Smiley Production I purchased that was not about a specific railroad. I was worried that it would not be as informative as his others, but I was wrong. As usual with CSP, very good, not so common information. This is one of my favorite things about CSP and this video has it.

Charles Smiley is one of the few publishers that put ,maps on their tapes. I have never been to this area of country and so these maps were especially helpful in figuring out how the train companies used the tracks. Some Conrail eher and lots of older roads too.
