There were many changes for railroads in the Northeast during this period. See Guilford with a rainbow of paint schemes. Also Conrail, NYS&W, The Saint Lawrence & Atlantic, CV, CP and more! We take you to the well known spots, such as East Deerfield, Binghamton, Hoosac Tunnel, and many other locations. Because there is so much “never to be seen again” action on this video, it remains one of BKVP’s most popular programs.
No Narration.

Good video. I’ve always loved the New England states and this shows some cool stuff.

You might be hard-pressed to name your favorite part of this program — classic paint schemes, vintage locomotives, fallen flags and great scenery would all be good choices! Broken Knuckle’s entire “Northeast Rails” series is worth owning — the video quality is excellent, the camerawork is well done, and … especially with the earliest programs in the collection, like this one … the footage is irreplaceable. Five enthusiastic stars.

Originally released on VHS only in 1992, this program covers a great variety of diesels from New England to New York State which includes a countless mix of Alcos, Geeps, Dash-8’s & unexpected surprises like a wedged Snow Plow for example on Central Vermont (Now New England Central since 1995), Springfield Terminal (Owned by Pan Am Rail), Conrail (Since split up & owned by both CSX & Norfolk Southern) Susquehanna, Delaware & Hudson, Canadian Pacific, St. Lawrence & Atlantic, Santa Fe, Grand Trunk, Maine Central, Southern, Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited, Mass Central with Blue & Yellow AT&SF power, the Loram Rail Grinder which had a police siren on the caboose for some reason, Chessie System, Burlington Northern, Seaboard, Norfolk & Western, & others.
There are a great variety of locations like Miller’s Falls, East Deerfield Yard near Greenfield in North Central Massachusetts, Montague, The Hoosac Tunnel at the NY/MA State Line, The Hotspot of Palmer MA at a Diamond where the station has since been turned into a Small Business Restaurant, Plus Richford Vermont, The Bridge at North Troy where due to weight restrictions, only one locomotive is allowed to cross, plus Newport Center, Gardner MA, Binghamton NY, & So much more that was covered in all 4 seasons of the year.
