Visit the modern Norfolk Southern Railway on historic rails in North Carolina, including the former Southern Railway main between Washington and Atlanta. We begin our visit in in Selma, where the former Atlantic Coast Line, now CSX, crosses the Norfolk Southern’s former Southern line at grade. We see an eastbound NS freight cross the diamonds and then work in the small yard. After a visit to Raleigh, action resumes on the former Southern Ry. main from DC to Atlanta, at the large yard in Linville, Salisbury, Kannapolis and Charlotte. See ten years of trains as NS, NCDOT and Amtrak were all filmed between 1998 and 2008.

Absolutely fantastic selection of archival footage! All the greatest locations along the Charlotte District are hit, including [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] (it’s better you find out for yourself 😉 ). Fantastic video overall. Highly recommend if you’re a fan of North Carolina Railroads or the old Norfolk Southern!

I purchased Vol. # 1 & 2 at the same time. Not knowing a lot about railroading in North Carolina, I found the video to be very interesting. Lots of great freight & passenger action, some which I did not expect like the NCDOT trains. There is yard service & diamond crossings (which I really enjoy) . Excellent video for everyone to enjoy.

Living in North Carolina and loving the Norfolk Southern this purchase was a non brainer for me. I am very happy with the video in its entirety and love the photography throughout. It is a must have for all rail fans especially those of Norfolk Southern.
