Some of the great railfan locations include the Greenhorn Trestle with a westbound manifest headed up by BNSF power and then two MRL SD40-2Rs. Greenhorn “Gulch” where heavy westbounds are slowed by a 2.2 percent climb. Skyline Trestle where we see an eastbound grain empty on a beautiful summer day. Austin is where the famous (and spectacular) “Double Horseshoe” begins. Bozeman Tunnel – MRL SD45s lead a BNSF train. Birdseye, so named for the fantastic view on the trains.
