Featuring… St. Croix Valley Railroad, Minnesota Commercial Railway, Northern Lines Railway, and the Minnesota Zephyr Dinner Train. See these three fascinating shortlines as they switch cars and pull long trains of grain products and other general merchandise across the Twin Cities and throughout Central Minnesota. The St. Croix Valley RR operates a 36 mile freight line over former Northern Pacific trackage from a connection with the BNSF at Hinckley. St.CV diesels wear a very attractive version of the 1960’s NP paint scheme. Footage shot between 1995 and 2010.
The Minnesota Commercial operates a switching, terminal and transfer railway that interchanges traffic with all Twin Cities railroads. The Northern lines operate two ex-Great Northern lines out of St. Cloud, MN and interchanges with the BNSF. The show ends with the Minnesota Zephyr who used classic F units on an elegant dinner train that ran out of Stillwater, MN and along the woodland bluffs of the St. Croix River Valley. The vintage EMD & Alco diesels on this DVD include: F7A, GP7, GP8, GP9, GP10, NW2, SW1200, SW1500, CF7, GP39V, RS18, RS20, RS23, RS27, C424, M630, M636CAT, and GE SF30-7.
