Watch these Kansas City Southern diesels work hard as they tackles the stiff thirteen mile grade over Rich Mountain. The line over Rich Mountain straddles the Oklahoma – Arkansas border. It is an important stretch for the KCS and sees some of the newest power the railroad has: SD70ACe and Gevo units are much in evidence and you’ll see the new “Retro Belle” paint scheme. KCS’s former Mexican units also make an appearance as do BNSF and Union Pacific coal trains. You can turn the narration on/off and each train has a marker.
Dan –
A challenging grade, the scenic beauty of the Ouachita Mountains and a railfan favorite … that’s Rich Mountain. This is a nice follow-up to the producer’s 1996 release “Highball Over Rich Mountain”, with a colorful variety of locomotive paint schemes, including the reborn KCS “Southern Belle” scheme. The videography is well done, camera locations are creative and the trains sound great as they struggle up the mountain. A nice addition to any collection!
Everywhere West –
This is where the KCS has to work a little bit harder to get the trains to where they need to be. It’s good to see big time railroading that is not just BNSF, UP, CSX and NS. I enjoyed the action.
