This production of Into the Allegheny Range Volume 4 was filmed by Iron Horse America over a three-year period during the mid 1990s. In it you’ll see a multitude of trains at familiar landmarks as well as the rarely seen west slope, during all seasons of the year. Many of the locomotives are sporting their pre-CSX paint schemes from various predecessor railroads. You’ll visit towers, tunnels, and obscure branch lines. Plus, you’ll see the last train to ever run on the old Berlin Subdivision out of Garrett, Pennsylvania. You’ll even ride on a pusher engine shoving an eastbound freight from Connellsville, Pennsylvania, up the west slope to the summit at Sand Patch. Enjoy the ultimate mountain railroading experience with Volume 4 of Into the Allegheny Range!

A Great Throwback video to the 90s. So much action in this program. A joy to watch. Many locations that either can’t be accessed today, either because of trespassing, or are no longer around. The many paint schemes of the past are well represented. Seeing the towers of Sand Patch in action, inside and out. Plenty of B&O Signals. Engines no longer around today. Worth every penny!

This two-disc DVD shows CSX freight and Amtrak passenger action on Sand Patch Grade in Pennsylvania. We see alot of action from Cumberland, Maryland to Connellsville, Pennsylvania. This includes a visit to the horseshoe curve at Mance. Alot of surprises also come our way in this program.

Years ago, I lived in southern Ontario Canada. It was only a 6 hr, 650km drive to Sandpatch. Despite my dreams, I never got there. Now, 2,900km away…. still just a dream, but with this excellent video… it is like being right there when watching it on the tv. Iron Horse out did themselves covering this very scenic region. And there is history in the video as pre-CSX paint schemes like Chessie make appearances, and some covered wagons as well. Excellent video.

One of my all time favorite railroad videos. Excellent footage of early 90’s CSX over Sand Patch with thorough commentary.
