Experience this historic view of active inter-urban service on 6 lines in Ontario, Canada in the late 1950s and 1960. We’ll visit these railroads: The Oshawa Railway, The Cornwall Street Railway, Lake Erie & Northern Railway, Grand River Railway, London & Port Stanley Railway, and The Niagara, St. Catherine’s & Toronto. These lines are all rarely photographed and here they are preserved for your viewing decades after the last wheel rolled on rail. Photographed by Frank Pfuhler Jr., with Ron Schliessman. In the late 1950s only one of these lines still maintained passenger service, The Niagara, St. Catherine’s & Toronto. This “international” line crossed the border to the U.S. and was North America’s last real full service inter-urban. The N, S and T makes up the final half of this film, divided equally between passenger and freight service and features the very last passenger run in March 1959.

Narration. Sunday River Productions programs may feature Color film, B&W film, Music, Dubbed Sound and still photos.

(Region Code 2 & 4 only. Not viewable in the USA & Canada. Do not order if you plan to view this in the USA or Canada. Click on the world map, below the main product picture, to see where this can be viewed.)
