We set off in October, 2004, to look for what’s left of the WC after the CN takeover, and this is what we found. CN seems intent on obliterating the WC & the IC too, but we found a few units still in WC paint, albeit a bit shabby. We followed the line from Rugby Junction to Fond du Lac, spending some time on the now double tracked Byron Hill, up to Winnebago and across to Stevens Point and on to Junction City. A nice visit to WC country with nice Fall colors.

One of the thrills of railfanning is finding something unexpected … a paint scheme, a locomotive type, a fallen flag. That’s what this video is all about — Highball Productions went “In Search Of The Wisconsin Central” … and found it! Videography is well done, and the scenes from Byron Hill are especially nice. Is the glass half full or half empty? You decide … the Wisconsin Central is clearly on its last legs, but thanks to this video it’s not gone yet. Nicely done, Highball!

Wisconsin Central, now part of the greedy Canadian National. And CN seems set on getting rid of any notice that the WC existed. In the autumn of 2004, Highball does a fine job finding the WC units that remained, and a great video it is. Mind you… there is lots of CN power, but that is to be expected several years after the take over. The fall colours are beautiful and well worth seeing. Thanks Highball.

I really miss the WC. Highball does a great job here of chasing down some of the last footage of this remarkable fallen flag. I’ve watched this video around 6 times now and you wont be disappointed.
