We shot the trains of both BNSF & UP from before dawn to after sunset on a superb March 2000 day. Lots of intermodal, autorack and manifest traffic moving right along, powered by just about everything the two roads own. Our first look at the ugliest diesel in the US, UP’s new 6000 hp SD90MAC’s.

Heavy trains, big power and non-stop action … that’s railroading in Daggett, California. Since the program covers an entire day from before dawn to after sunset, the lighting is constantly changing, which adds a nice scenic element to the rail action. Highball’s videography is always excellent and, together with the sound of the trains, this program does a great job capturing the feel of spending a full day trackside in Daggett.

An interesting video. Lots of meets are seen by both Union Pacific and BNSF. A wide variety of trains, including an army train. Very little narration, and very little screen graphics. Some narration during the video would have been nice. Aside from that…… enjoyable.
