Spend the day, from sunrise to sunset, on the overpass at the summit of busy, 4 track Logan Hill on BNSF’s Orin Sub in the Powder River coal basin. More than 400 million tons of coal are produced in the Powder River Basin every year, and more than 100 trains a day are needed to cope with demand. Multi train meets are common on Logan Hill, and loaded trains are working hard up the grade to the summit.
The narration can be turned off and on. Dolby Audio.

With four tracks at the summit, there’s always something rolling over Logan Hill … often multiple trains at once. The camera location is slightly elevated, offering a nice view of the action. And as a sunrise-to-sunset video, the “mood” of the program changes with the daylight. This is the Powder River Basin, which means a steady parade of coal; it might not appeal to everyone. But I’ll admit to being a fan of coal trains, and would gladly find a nice spot to spend an entire day watching them. With this program, I can!

Interesting video to the point that Logan Hill would be enjoyable to see. Lots of trains, many meets, always something to view. But…. after a 1/2 hour or so… interest dropped seeing the same thing, being that this is a primary coal route only. If there was more narration, or screen graphics, or something to tell us something about the passing trains like origin or destination, time of day, etc… it may have held my interest more. To recommend this video, a person would really have to be into the subject matter and location.
