Enjoyed the older power. So much variety to see. Wish there had been lots more blowing of the horns.

A great look at one of America’s premier railfanning locations. Expect a steady parade of trains featuring a wide variety of railroads, locomotive types, paint schemes and consists. The video was shot more than 20 years ago, so there are plenty of “remember when” moments. And Blue Island’s iconic bridges are impressive with or without trains! The usual high quality videography from Highball Productions captures the feel of spending a day trackside at Blue Island. As Highball says, it’s “the next best thing to being there”.

A ‘Hotspot’ can be best described as ‘somewhere you should never turn your back to, as You never know what is next’. For railfans, it is a location where there are a lot of trains, preferably but not always from multiple companies. Blue Island fits the description to a “T”. Highball has done a fantastic job showing the action here. With many different companies crossing each other’s right-of-ways, bridge crossings, and even Metra crossing over top, there is a near non-stop parade of trains. With very little narration, we read screen graphics to give us the time of each train, and we hear the sounds just like we are there. You love trains and variety? You want to stay in one location? This video is a “must have” for all who enjoy railroading. Blue Island is truly a “Hotspot”.

Nice spot in the Chicago Area

A nice early look at this hot spot – and is updated later in another video… but I like the old power and so I like this tape too!
