If you like NS action from the 1990’s, this video is for you! This video was shot primarily around Roanoke and along the Christiansburg District east of Bluefield and has several shots taken around the now shuttered AEP power plant at Glen Lyn. This was also during the time when NS was using dynamic equipped road slugs on coal trains and you’ll see several throughout the program. Several motors wearing Southern and N&W paint and the N&W 1218 make appearances as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this program but I don’t understand at all why they split it up on 2 DVDs.

A Better time on the NS, shot in 1990, you will see U23B, B23-7, B36-7, C30-7, C36-7 and many C39-8. Only a few C40-8’s are shown, thank goodness, Also the usual SD40-2’s. Also see 1218, on a fan trip. See the NS, before the Thousands of Widecabs took over. Old Southern and N&W paint is also seen. Very good quality film also, which makes viewing even better. A great additon to my collection

Nothing beats great railroad action more than heavy freights working mountain regions. BKVP has done an excellent job capturing this in the eastern USA West Virginia area. The historical value of the now gone engines and retired paint schemes really adds to this video. And enjoy the steam excursions also seen . A fantastic video that is very well put together.
