There is a lot of tourist railroading going on in New Hampshire! Two tourist lines are now operated by the same operator on former the Boston and Maine Railroad’s “Concord & Montreal” line through the scenic New Hampshire Lake Region into the White Mountains. The trackage is owned by the State of New Hampshire but passenger rights are leased to the Plymouth & Lincoln Railroad which operates the two tourist lines: The Hobo Railroad, and the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad.
The Hobo Railroad trains operate between Lincoln and West Thornton. The Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad runs between Meredith Station and Lakeport siding at the end of Paugus Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. Intermediate stops are made at Weirs Beach. Each railroad has attractions that make for an entertaining time. Special runs include autumn foliage specials, a Santa Train, a Polar Express special, the Winnipesaukee Scenic mystery and dinner trains.
