While more trains than ever run Tehachapi, these are sights that are now long gone: SP and ATSF painted units and the SP “oil cans” that no longer run over Tehachapi. The action is exciting and the sights wonderful: A long Santa Fe pig train draped around the loop has to be one of the most spectacular sights available. There is no railroading experience like Tehachapi. And this video does an excellent job showing it. Lots of long trains, from intermodal to oil cans. It takes a lot of power to move the trains as seen with the SP and 8 units on the head end and assisting in helper mode. Highball covers the area very well over a 38 mile stretch with the tunnels and gorgeous scenery.
