This is an amazing production to watch for anyone who lives or lived near Grand Trunk trackage! I live in Port Huron, and it was amazing seeing video of the old train yard and the original St. Clair Tunnel, it even showed the car ferry operation, the train line that went to the ferry yards have since been torn up, with the GTW ferry yard having been demolished in 1995, and the CSX ferry yard demolished in 2005, this makes this one of the few videos of both train yards in operation. This was an amazing watch!

In Part 2 that was originally released in 1994, there are a bunch of even more diesels on mainline freights & a handful of locals in the Henry Ford state itself. Near the end of the program, there are some ferry boats out on the lake.
Other road names in addition to the GT include Detroit Toledo & Ironton, CSX, Seaboard System, Chicago & Northwestern (one unit is part of the National Railway Equipment), Canadian National, Amtrak’s since discontinued International with VIA Rail F40s in charge, Canadian Pacific, Soo Line, Burlington Northern, Chessie System, & the Loram ballast train.
There are more spots on the route of the GT which is now owned by Canadian National such as Battle Creek, Durand with vintage films of steam from the 5600 series 4-6-2 Pacifics, to the 8300 series 0-8-0s, & even some early Geeps, plus McAllister Road, Bellevue (not Ohio), Charlotte (Not North Carolina), Mill at Milepost 214.8, the state Captial of Lansing, Trowbridge, State Road which is west of Bancroft, Flint, LaPeer at milepost 290 (reference to an Atlanta & West Point 4-6-2), Imlay City, Capac, Emmett, West Tappen, Tunnel Yard, & Port Huron.
Music is used during the Helicopter ride over Battle Creek Yard.

I have seen this entire series several times. Its one that you can go back and re-watch. I have to give this person credit for their excellent videography skills. Grand Trunk Western is a rare thing to see on video but this series takes you through the entire GTW system in great detail. A lot of GTW blue with a few CN locomotives dating it in the early ’90s. There was also a fare amount of BN green on coal trains. Defiantly worth buying the whole series.
