Climb aboard Grand Trunk train #216 (an all trailer-van train) powered by an ex-Rock Island GP38-2 for a cab ride from Springfield, Ohio (Maitland) to Cincinnati (CSX Queensgate Yard). Most of the return trip is shown as far as Middletown. The Grand Trunk gained trackage rights over former Erie- Lackawanna rails from Maitland to Cold Springs and then Conrail tracks all the way to Cincinnati.
You’ll pass through locations such as Fairborn, Dayton, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Carlisle, Middletown, Maud Hill, Sharon Yard, Elmwood Place, and Queensgate Yard. You’ll witness several meets with other trains on the way to and from Cincinnati. Conrail, NS and a Grand Trunk automotive train with nine all GT powered locos provide additional interest in this video.
On Screen graphics keeps the viewer informed of locations. Hear talk between the engineer, conductor and dispatcher.
