From Chicago to New York’s Camelback Country Featuring the New York, Ontario & Western

Noted rail cinematographer Gerald M. Best is well known for his early films of Western railroading. But in 1927, Gerald decided to go home to Port Jervis, New York and on that trip he photographed Eastern railroading as you have never seen it before.

See them here: Chicago & North Western; Rock Island; Erie; New York Central; Delaware, Lackawanna & Western; and of course the “Old & Weary” in the featured role. Get set for some very rare footage of some very rare railroading in the year 1927.

In this 1991 videotape, there are lots of incredible silent black and white films with dubbed audio which includes some onboard footage of passing the debut of the New York central Hudson, and A C&NW Berkshire running light, plus plenty of other locomotives on the Pennsylvania, Erie, and the rock island. These are really good 90-95 year old films of these smoking beasts before the takeover of the diesels.
