From Dusk to Dawn, Great Lakes Freighters after Dark

There is no doubt that the Great Lakes Freighters have an allure and romance all their own. But after the sun sets, they take on an almost totally different appeal! With their running lights and cabin lights glimmering off the water and their wake, and the lights ashore reflecting off the hull, these floating symbols of industry take on a more graceful and serene air. Here we present several vessels of the Inland Seas in just this setting.

With the weather ranging from beautiful, calm summer nights…to surreal, blizzard-like storms, we will witness the passage of the Lee A Tregurtha, Viking 1, Alpena, Spar Garnet, Earl W Oglebay, Algolake, Frontenac, Pathfinder and others along the St Clair and Detroit Rivers at Port Huron, St Clair, Marine City, Algonac, and Detroit/Windsor. A special tribute to the Kinsman Independent, at the time the last US-flagged straight decker is also featured, including her last downbound run on December 15, 2002. This is marked as “Volume 3”. There are no other volumes of Dusk to Dawn, rather this is the third program offered by Clear Block that features lake boats. The other two are Grand Trunk Western #5 and Vignettes of the Ann Arbor #2.
