Machines of Iron crews followed the SP&S #700 on four trips over an eleven year span of time. In 1990, the 700 was a hit at the Central Washington Steamfest ’90 carrying passengers from Portland to Pasco and Yakima to Ellensburg. In July 1999, the locomotive traveled between Portland and Hillsboro as the Portland and Western #700. We followed the 700 on a shake down trip in February 2001 between Vancouver and Longview.

This is almost an hour and a half of action you do not want to miss! This program was originally given to me by a friend as a Christmas gift. I am a huge fan of SP&S #700… She is one of the greatest preserved 4-8-4s of our time… ALMOST as significant as SP #4449 or even N&W Class J #611. The excursions covered in this program are much more exciting compared to what we experience in today’s world with mainline steam… Which is not much, frankly… Hope y’all will enjoy this journey back in time as much as I did. 🙂
