Pentrex joined the Number 4 on its 9-day visit to the Durango & Silverton, one of the most spectacular narrow gauge railroads in North America. The locomotive traveled by truck from its home in Las Vegas, Nevada to the San Juan Range of southwestern Colorado for this special event.
The sight of this immaculately reconstructed historic artifact braving three percent grades, razor sharp curves, and precarious ledges high above the Animas River is awesome. The diminutive locomotive is constantly hungry for wood and thirsty for water, in contrast to the coal-burning Mikado-type workhorses that normally labor on the Durango & Silverton.
Watch from trackside and ride in the cab for a special perspective. It’s the history of western railroading in motion, and an experience you’ll never forget! Brought to you in a special digitally remastered edition in 2018.
