Pennsylvania’s East Broad Top Railroad was a totally self-sufficient narrow gauge line in the mountains of Pennsylvania. The entire property was sold in the 1950s, was brought back to life as a tourist hauler in 1961, but in 2011 it closed and the property was silent for years. Then in 2020, the railroad was purchased by the non-profit East Broad Top Foundation with the goal of re-opening the entire railroad once again.

In the trains magazine version of the East Broad Top revival after the 3-foot narrow gauge railroad in Northeastern America is inactive between 2011-2019, there are not only scenes with Baldwin Built 2-8-2 Mikados 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18, Motor car 1, Inspection car 3, & center cab diesel 7 with an RS3L air horn, but there is also a visit to the Rockhill Trolley Museum next door, as well as interviews with the people who worked on the railroad in the Keystone State as well as remembering the line: Henry Posner, Brad Esposito, Lee Rainey, Charlie Wooton, Dave Dietz, Steve Jacobs, Mike Wahler, Matt Malkiewicz, Craig Confair, former Strasburg employee Linn Moedinger, Dave Domitrovich, Lawrence Fuchs, Kyle Dean, Lawrence Bemiller, & Steve Jackson, as well as Valerie Robbins-Rice, Keith Bray, & Mike Krees of the adjacent trolley museum, plus there is a visit to the shops, countless still images, flashback footages, & even well-done narration by editor Kevin Keefe.

When Railfans think of Pennsylvania, they think of Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, Strasburg at Lancaster County, Reading & Northern with Reading T1 class 4-8-4 2102, former Gulf Mobile & Northern 4-6-2 425, & Jersey Central 0-6-0 113, plus the New Hope & Ivyland, the Everett Railroad, Steamtown at Scranton, Williams Grove with the only operating Pennsylvania railroad steam engine in the present century (0-6-0 643), Erie in the Northwest, the Battle through Sand Patch Grade between Pittsburgh & Cumberland Maryland, long-gone tourist lines like the Gettysburg & Knox & Kane, & several trolley museums, plus electrified Passenger trains between Harrisburg & Philadelphia, the EBT is perhaps one of the best steam powered tourist lines in not only the Keystone State itself, but also in America as well.
