The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad operates one of best steam tourist railroads in the world, some 45 miles each way from Durango to Silverton, Colorado in the Rockies. During the D&S Railfest 2010, 3 additional pieces of motive power visited the railroad for rare operational use. These included Eureka and Palisade 4-4-0 number 4 built in 1875 and Denver and Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 number 315 built in 1895. In addition to those two, we see and ride Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose number 5. If that were not enough we enjoy regular D&S passenger trains, and some D&S special trains with Green coaches. This includes both K-28 and K-36 2-8-2’s. There is a wealth of material here with unusual runbys from the charter trains, meets with other trains, and some of the best scenery that is only accessible by doing the special charters. Some of the charter trains were ridden, and one partial day there was chasing. There is also a day riding the Goose 5, and special runbys with it and other trains that ran on that day. This was all shot in High Definition video. Enjoy 473 on the Presidents train with the green coaches, and later the 315 with those same coaches. This show is sure to please all steam enthusiasts and those who enjoy great scenery and locations.
